OUR HISTORY

The year was 2005 and my dear friend,Pedro Trapote, rancher and well-known Spanish businessman, owner of Joy Eslava and Pacha Madrid (now Teatro Barceló) put me in charge of the Commercial Direction of non-bullfighting events of the emblematic Bullring of Las Ventas.

Two unforgettable years at Las Ventas organizing concerts like that of Shakira, Bruce Springteen, Miguel Bosé, Maná, MTV, ... etc. Seeing the number of merchandising shirts that were sold there in the stalls that were set up, it was when the first idea came to me and we could say that the seed was put in to create a brand of polo shirts and t-shirts to initially sell in La Plaza where I was the Commercial Director and that until then there was no such thing.

As you can imagine being my grandfather Gitanillo de Triana and my father the Venezuelan bullfighter Héctor Álvarez, my blood burned seeing how thousands of T-shirts were sold in Las Ventas by the different artists who acted there but that there was not even a stand for something related to our Bullfighting.

THE HOOD

The idea of creating that bullfighting brand based on the t-shirts and polo shirts that the different artists made for concerts had not occurred to me. The crisis arrived and for events even more. I know a very pretty girl who was 29 years old at the time called Carolina López and I fall madly in love with her. We started dating and logically I tell him the idea of bullfighting shirts and polo shirts. She came from "Chello Multicanal", where she commercialized TV advertising spots for channels such as "Canal Historia", "Canal Cocina", "Canal Hollywwod" .. etc. There we started with a brainstorm or as the English speakers say "Brains Torminmg" where after many names, we decided to put our brand "EL CAPOTE". We send the logo to a well-known friend. In 2010 we registered the brand and logo with the illusion of two children!

Year 2011 The adventure begins! We manufacture the first T-shirts, polo shirts and shirts to test the brand for the main fairs in Spain. We started at the Fallas in Valencia on March 12. We started selling the first polo shirts of El Capote, we will never forget it! In a small stand made up of a red iron bar from the Mahou brand and cardboard displays as a back. With the photos of our first models that we will never forget .. "Finito de Córdoba", "Arancha del Sol" and "Malena Costa", almost nothing!

After Valencia came Seville, Jerez, Córdoba, Pamplona, this worked !!.

When we arrived in Madrid, we created our first website and started selling online at www.poloselcapote.com. Our dream was already a reality.

November 2012 we opened our first store on Calle Don Ramón de la Cruz, 26 (Madrid). You can not imagine the illusion it made us! We worked as dependents in two shifts, Carolina was already pregnant with our girl, Claudia, who, as they say, came with a bread under her arm. But with bread that would be earned with a lot of work.

The store was too small for us before we thought. At two and a half years we moved to the street Claudio Coello, 46. A street with a lot of history for me, since my grandfather Triana Gypsy, He opened his “Gitanillos” bar at number 48 in 1962 where I made my communion among many other celebrations. Another sign of those that are not forgotten.

The online store was growing non-stop. We started investing in Facebook and Instagram, our followers numbered in the thousands and among our ambassadors, key in all this, we already had such important personalities as SM The King Emeritus D. Juan Carlos, SM The King Felipe VI, Juan José Padilla, Enrique Ponce, Morante de la Puebla, Álvaro Morata, Sergio Ramos, Guti, Pepe Rodríguez Rey, Bertín Osborne, Emilio José, Ana Obregón, Los Morancos , Rafael Amargo, Miguel Torres, Oscar Higares, Pepe Domingo Castaño, etc…

September 2017, the possibility arises to move to the store that we have right next to the current one, a store of 300 square meters and with a rental income that made anyone dizzy, it was an opportunity but also a very big risk for my member and for me, but who said fear?

So we launched ourselves into change and we continue here, in 2019 we grew 200% compared to 2018. March 2020, 10 years have passed since that special moment that was selling the first garment in the Bullring of Valencia that 12 of March 2011 and coincides with the new opening in a large business building in Alcobendas where the offices and warehouses for e-commerce already have more than 300 m2

September 2017, the opportunity arises and we moved 10 meters from our store to a premises of 300 m. Who said fear ?!

Year 2019, the growth is exponential and the data from e-commerce and the new Flagship Store cannot be better. March 2020, 10 years have passed since our first sale and we opened an office, call center, warehouse and photography Multispace in Alcobendas to centralize everything that is a dream for us.

CLOAK

A SOLIDARITY CAPOTE

We have been collaborating for 10 years with the religious congregation of the Adorers of Madrid in one of their projects in India. We sponsor girls and finance projects.

This congregation was founded in 1845 by the hand of Santa María Micaela and works to help women victims of trafficking and sexual exploitation. It is present in 25 countries in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.

10 years ago I had the opportunity to live with them for 4 months in Calcutta and Siliguri (border with Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and China). I have no words to describe their work, integrity, love and absolute dedication that these sisters have for each and every one of these girls.

We firmly believe in a corporate social responsibility to find a balance in our professional and personal life.

Let's be supportive, "The more you give, the more you receive"

Go for them!
